We wanted to reach a new audience (the Kickstarter audience) and do something interesting to draw attention to our new product.

On the other hand, even though we thought our product was innovative, we wanted to take this opportunity to test the market and gauge interest middle east mobile number list before proceeding with the official launch.

Tell us about your first experience with Kickstarter and the success you had.

Our bike carry handle was a huge success on Kickstarter. We reached our fundraising goal of $3,500 in the first three days.

 

Our project was covered by many blogs and media outlets, including well-known cycling blogs that helped us successfully fundraise. But the majority of our backers (64%) found us directly through Kickstarter. In the end, we raised almost $20,000, or about 550% of our initial fundraising goal.

 

What did you do to get media coverage for your Kickstarter campaign?

I sent a press release to a list of cycling blogs and magazines for marketing institute this past year edge both of our products, since they both catered to the cycling niche. In 2012, this got us a lot of press coverage. In 2015, for our UpCycle Cage water bottle holder, we got no response!

 

How did you go about setting the fundraising goal in advance?

In 2012, $3,500 was the minimum capital needed to buy leather wholesale. We simply chose the amount we needed for our project. We calculated shipping agb directory costs into our price, as we fortunately had the experience to estimate them. But we didn’t calculate the fees and commissions we would have to pay. Between Kickstarter and the Amazon Pay service that was used by the platform at the time (Kickstarter now uses Stripe instead of Amazon Pay), the fees and commissions reached 10% of the funds we raised, which was more than we had anticipated. Fortunately, the funding we obtained exceeded our fundraising goal, which made up for it. But our margins quickly plummeted, as we were offering our product to backers at a discount.
